Mood Fabrics sells fabric by the fractional yard across its stores, showrooms and website, all run on NCR Counterpoint. PeakBeyond™ has been Mood's technical lead through a move to Magento 2, a Counterpoint server upgrade and a replatform to Shopify Plus — including a custom integration that lets Shopify sell in quarter-yard increments — and now through Shopify POS showrooms and new marketplace channels.

The work

  1. 2024 – December 2025

Replatforming from Magento to Shopify Plus

    The challenge

Mood sells fabric in fractional quantities such as 0.5 or 1.25 yards, which Shopify doesn't support out of the box. The move also needed a new product data model, search and merchandising, a reworked Counterpoint integration, and a cutover without downtime.

    What we did

PeakBeyond™ introduced Arctic Grey as the Shopify Plus build partner and acted as technical lead across Mood, Arctic Grey, Retail Dimensions, Searchspring and JetRails. We designed the data model — quarter-yard base units with quantity and price conversion — proved it in a Shopify proof of concept, and wrote the integration requirements: Counterpoint views that sell in quarter-yard units, order import from a total-yardage line property, and shipments converted back to quarter-yard units. We also mapped collections and URLs for SEO, planned the order history migration from invoiced quantities, and prepared product data, barcodes and pricing files.

    The result

The Shopify Plus store went live on December 29, 2025, switching over from Magento through a DNS and Cloudflare change without the site going dark.

  2. 2026 – present

Shopify POS showrooms and in-store pickup

    The challenge

Mood's new showrooms needed point of sale, pickup of online orders, and inventory that deducts correctly in Counterpoint and the warehouse handhelds — all while selling fabric in fractional quantities.

    What we did

PeakBeyond™ set up Shopify POS locations with a fractional-quantity POS app, split orders between pickup and delivery, handled pickup addresses and combined pickup-and-ship orders with Retail Dimensions, and set up a store station for the first showroom.

  3. 2026 – present

    Marketplaces and new sales channels

    The challenge

Amazon, Walmart, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok expect whole-unit listings, not fractional yardage, and marketplace orders had to keep flowing when Magento was retired.

    What we did

PeakBeyond™ designed how marketplace products are listed alongside the fractional catalog, prepared marketplace product data with Matrixify, set up TikTok Shop, and mapped Amazon and Walmart SKUs in M2E Pro ahead of retiring Magento.

  4. October 2025 – September 2026

    Counterpoint server migration and upgrade

    The challenge

Ahead of the Shopify launch, Mood needed more server capacity and an upgraded Counterpoint, with label printing, wireless handhelds, ShipWorks and shared image folders moved to new infrastructure.

    What we did

PeakBeyond™ planned the migration with Mood's IT provider and Counterpoint reseller: separate virtual machines for Counterpoint, SQL Server, wireless handhelds, ShipWorks and the Shopify integration, the Counterpoint upgrade, shared image folders, production backups and SQL maintenance. We then retired the old online server and moved the Shopify integration to its own machine.

    The result

Counterpoint was upgraded and the integration moved to its own machine.

  5. 2026 – present

Launch support and day-to-day operations on Shopify

    The challenge

A new platform with a custom integration brings launch-period work: missed orders on fractional fulfillment, price display errors, slow product uploads, overnight database deadlocks, redirects for old URLs, and orders and tracking numbers that had to reach the shipping software and come back.

    What we did

PeakBeyond™ runs commerce consulting with Mood several times a week. We resolved the overnight integration deadlocks, sped up product and inventory uploads, re-imported missed orders into Counterpoint, prioritized redirects from the Search Console 404 report, fixed order and tracking sync with the shipping software and planned the phased move from ShipWorks to ShipStation, and automated dropship file distribution.

  6. 2024 – 2026

Product feeds, marketplace tax rules and Counterpoint reporting

    The challenge

Product feeds lacked consistent GTINs, social and marketplace orders needed the right payment, shipping and sales-tax handling, and the merchandising and operations teams needed reporting without direct database work.

    What we did

PeakBeyond™ added GS1 GTIN fields and cleaned the Google and Amazon feeds, set up the Facebook product feed with its own pay code and shipping method, defined which marketplace orders go to Avalara, designed store pickup for online orders, and built Counterpoint reports and exports — daily inventory snapshots, sales history, showroom stock and order-line reports.

  7. 2020

Magento 2 and Counterpoint integration rollout

    The challenge

Mood moved to Magento 2 with a new Counterpoint connector from Retail Dimensions. The implementation needed coordination across Mood, the vendor and hosting, and orders, invoices, taxes and shipments had to flow correctly afterwards.

    What we did

PeakBeyond™ set up weekly vendor status calls, defined the Magento 2 test-order plan and provided system access for the integration team. After launch we fixed duplicate invoices, tax allocation errors and slow shipment creation, fed breadcrumb attributes from Counterpoint, and built reporting.

    The result

Mood's site was updated and migrated to the new integration by December 2020.
