A 30,000-item test equipment catalog moves platforms without losing history

ValueTronics International

ValueTronics sells new and used electronic test equipment; PeakBeyond owned the integration between its new storefront and its ERP through the replatform, and has acted as its e-commerce manager since.

A heavily customized site, and a catalog full of history

ValueTronics distributes new and used test equipment — a catalog of more than 30,000 items, each with manuals and datasheets customers rely on, and loyalty balances built up over years.

The existing site was heavily customized and faced a costly upgrade, with search visibility problems on top.

Anything new had to stay in step with the ERP, because quotes, orders, customers, pricing and inventory all live there — and much of this equipment is quoted rather than simply bought.

Own the integration, because that's where replatforms fail

PeakBeyond assessed the upgrade honestly — extensions, legacy modules, redirects and analytics — and when the business chose to move platforms, we took ownership of the piece most likely to sink it: the integration between the new storefront and the ERP.

We set the shared key from the start, using the ERP's item identifiers, and ran weekly stand-ups across the build partner and the ERP's own developers so no interface was left to assumption.

Because the client has little in-house technical staff, we also planned for life after launch: logging and alerts on the integration, control of the domain and edge account in the client's name, and a standing e-commerce management role coordinating the agencies.

A replatform, a recovery plan and an ongoing management role

PeakBeyond has been the constant across the build partner, the ERP developers and the marketing agencies.

PeakBeyond worked with ValueTronics International's internal team and specialized technology partners to:

  • Owned the storefront-to-ERP integration: data mapping on ERP item identifiers, syncs for contacts, draft orders and quotes on a dedicated server, and a secured ERP endpoint
  • Migrated attributes, categories, loyalty balances and the product manuals and datasheets customers depend on, with redirect, search and performance checks before launch
  • Protected search visibility after launch: legacy documents redirected to a dedicated page, authenticated outbound email, duplicate tracking cleaned up and indexing fixes with the agencies
  • Added logging and error alerts to the integration and upsized its server so failures surface early
  • Specified B2B storefront features: one-time-password login, a quote drawer that passes salesperson data to marketing, out-of-stock and consignment pricing, minimum order value, privacy opt-out and cookie consent, and an offline shipping method for heavy orders
  • Built a sales pipeline feed from issued quotes with duplicate flags, and set up read-only analysis access to the database for troubleshooting

Live with its history intact, and managed ever since

The new store went live on December 16, 2024 with more than 30,000 items, loyalty balances and product documentation carried across.

Post-launch work protected the things a distributor lives on: legacy document URLs redirected rather than lost, tracking cleaned up, and integration errors now visible instead of silent.

The sales pipeline integration was live in July 2026, fed automatically from quotes already issued in the ERP, and front-end blocking time improved significantly on the homepage and product pages in July 2026.

A distributor with no in-house technical team runs an enterprise-scale catalog — because someone owns the integration and the agencies.
